Supporting the wider community…

Our most ambitious project yet— a clinic at the Gitabage school— is steadily expanding into a community health center. The general clinic opened in August 2022, a maternity wing and laboratory have now been added and equipped, and 6 more inpatient rooms were finished in August 2024.

Individuals with the determination and skill to start their own small businesses can apply for grants from REE. We have given seed money for start-ups including beet farming, shoemaking, hairdressing, music lessons, food delivery, mobile barbering, and more.

Over the years students and school staff have received donated rabbits, pigs, goats, and even cows to eat and breed at home—one way to generate money for school fees and other family needs.
